Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I was driving along and I've been having some
problems with the heating and it would go hot and
cold and then it would stay hot for a good hour on
one of my longer drives and then it would just go
freezing cold all the sudden so I'm thinking OK it's
a cable in the cooling system blowing and coolant
came out from underneath the car but I started the
car back up and it drove and it drove for another
10-15 miles before all the sudden a clacking tin like
sound started happening and it stalled out and I
was on the side of the road found on road dead
anyway I was told by a mechanic friend of mine
who also runs a tow truck company that it is the
timing belt that broke after he replace spark plugs
because I thought that might be it but of course I
was wrong and now it sits up at a shop waiting for
morning so that they can look at it my question is
why would any coolant come out of the vehicle if
the timing belt broke is that in something that
would normally happen or is it because my stupid
brother in law over filled the coolant in the actual
radiator please help me I am so fed up with this car
it has 117 k and everything works inside and out
except for the timing belt and the Heat no I thought
about it being the heater core but it doesn't make
sense so if anybody can explain this conundrum I
would really appreciate it I've already put a lot of
money into this car and I don't have the means to
continue doing so especially after this fix
supposed to be moving into an apartment this
weekend and I don't know if that's going to happen
but I am freaking out about this stupid situation
please help and I'll give you a free tattoo I swear

, I just noticed a big chunk of the question was left out what I left out was that I was driving stopped to see where I was getting ready to go cuz I was lost and while I was parked and idling I heard a pressurized popping noise and then cooling came out from underneath the car which led me to believe that it might be a hose from the coolant system somewhere but I started the car up and it drove and I'm not sure what I hear that if you break a timing belt you can break or bend a rod and waterpump or anything else I am completely out of my depth here I need some logical answers before I talk to these people at a shop and they try to take all my money I'm a single mother working my ass off just to get by and my car is my livelihood basically at this point please please please help

U can keep the tattoo...lol. I think u may have more than anyone can just try to figure out here on this forum. I feel for u, but ideally u need a trusted mechanic that can look at it carefully because it sounds to me like at this point u may overlapping issues. I think we would just b guessing and take u down avenues that we can't really say for sure. It may even make u more confused. Again try a mechanic & wen u talk to him take with u someone who knows cars and can ask him the why's of how come is telling that or coming to that conclusion

Yeah, I forgot about that damn water pump, the mechanics at the shop it's at said that the timing belt and the water pump are the issue of course it's a possibility that they are not going to be able to get my parts until Monday, but it is a 600 $ fix....so I can just sit and pray that they get it done by tomorrow cuz I work out of state, other than that they said that it is a good car but the issues that it has are normal at this milage. ...so frustrating this car!!! Thanks for the encouraging words I appreciate it a lot,
