Frozen Emergency Brake? 2014 CRV
Right rear wheel diagnosed as having "frozen" due to "moisture freezing e-
brake and creating thin layer of ice in small gap between pads and rotor"
Parked car in driveway in Maine, so it's cold. 14 hours since I had list driven
it, and when I put it in drive, it would not move much. Reverse, same.
Rocked it a bit and finally, with lots of gas, it moved forward (after I heard
loud "crack!" sound.)
Dash symbols came on to include ABS, steering wheel, etc. Car drove as if
emergency brake was on and I pulled over several times to see what was
wrong--no flat, nothing that I could see.
After about a mile, pulled over again. Right rear tire flat. Wheel was not
turning and I had dragged the tire down to the metal (leaving 3 inch hole in
it)
Honda dealer says it was fluke involving ebrake (which I never use)
freezing right rear wheel because ice had formed between pad and
rotor??? Also said there were no DTC codes to check.
Does this make sense? Should there be codes? How likely is his to happen
again?
Thanks!
