The transmission needs rebuilt. Are there any codes,check engine light on?

No lights on. We let it sit for a full day, and still as soon as we start it, the RPM's go immediately to 3000 and stay there. In order for it not to knock your teeth out when you change gears, we put it in neutral before starting it. Looks like we are going to have to take it in. Thanks for your help.
