Only way I know of is to remove front drive axle for the front wheels. I've heard of people doing this when the front locks up due to the bad 4x4 hubs.
I have the opposite question I have a 03 Yukon 4x4 and tranny went out. Found a used 2 wheel drive tranny. Can I swap tail and transfer case from one to the other and it work or is there internal work that needs to be done
I'm thinking of removing the 4wd on my 75 Chevy pickup to improve gas mileage and reduce weight
1975 Chevy pickup... I'm thinking of removing the 4wd to save weight and get better mileage, using just 2wd
Yea, that's what I keep hearing... I was interested in a nice 75' Chevy 3/4 ton with a 454, but it has 4WD. I do own a 96' Chevy Dually, but it only has a 350 engine, maybe I should just blow $5,000 and buy a new or rebuilt 454 for towing. Thanks for your response!
I went to school with a guy who did something like this. He built a one-of-none-made 1979 Chevy shortbed stepside 4X4 with a mega-lift. The project involved plenty of cutting, welding, and a host of donor vehicles for the appropriate 4X4 parts. If you are an excellent fabricator and welder, this project may be up your alley. If you are hiring this done, save yourself some money and buy a late model 4X4 truck or SUV to get around in.
What will i need to convert a 4wd transmission to a 2wd transmission in a 2002 chevy tahoe
