Lighting issues - Interior Instrument Panel not illuminated & Exterior Daytime Running/Parking/Tail Lights not working

Asked by RD97Jimmy Nov 17, 2014 at 02:16 PM about the 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello. I've got some lighting issues with my 1997 GMC Jimmy.  On my instrument panel, the light that illuminates the speedometer doesn't work - all the other lights on the instrument panel do work though (seat belt, check engine, ABS, etc.).

Also, recently I had yet another car CD player installed so I'm wondering if that's why my daytime running lights don't work now - neither with or without the headlights turned on.  All other exterior lights are working fine (turn signals, hazards, brake, rear backing up while in reverse, headlights, etc.).

Help Mr. Wizard!!

Check fuse #15 Check DRL (daytime running lights) relay under dash, left of brake pedal. If those are ok, go back to radio/cd player installation.
