You know, the timing chain or so I've heard is supposed to last the life of the car. Well, how much did that timing chain cost you?
The next time someone tells me that they have a "timing chain" and it's better than a "timing belt", I'm going to refer this story to them.
Debi, I should have looked this up earlier. You didn't have a timing chain, you had a timing belt. Big difference. And, you got a very good price on the new timing belt. Did you change the water pump? Doesn't look like it. Your mechanic should have recommended that. Why, these frequently go together and you don't want to pay all that labor again, but, I'm impressed you got this so cheap. Don't know where you live, but, here in Socal, that would be a lot more, like $800 to 1,000 for both items.
I got the belt, water pump, pully and whatever else comes with component kit and labor and I live in South Georgia, would changing any of this cause the oil light to be flickering or staying on?
It has plenty of oil I checked that, I need to know if something they worked on could be the reason for the oil light being on...I quit driving it Friday night when it happened waiting for the shop to open tomorrow!
Debi, yes take it to the garage, sounds like you found a reasonable one. Good luck.
Debi, read this and you'll see why I said you got a good deal, http://www.angieslist.com/articles/time-running-out-your-cars-timing- belt.htm
