Car turns off when slowing down or idleing at stop sign.

Asked by Grace Mar 17, 2018 at 07:55 PM about the 1976 Honda Civic Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got the fuel pump replaced on my
1976 Honda Civic. The other day I was
driving and when I slowed down the car
would turn off. I was able to start it up
again, but every time I pulled up to a stop
sign it’d turn off again. Could this be
related to the fuel pump I just replaced or
is it a different issue?

It sounds like you Mass Air Flow Sensor. It's a quick fix, and cheap for the most part. Try YouTube for a video on MAF sensor problems.
