Hello, I have a 2000 Honda civic that the speedometer sticks at 20 mph, It seems to happen when the trip odometer gets stuck and is not counting miles, the car odometer always counts fine. Has anyone had these issues with Honda?

Quite possibly a loose wire in the harness. It runs under some stuff, and that's where I have to keep adjusting mine, near the firewall. I am told (have not verified) that the speedo is controlled by an electronic sending unit, not by a mechanical (with rotating connecting cable, like on bicycles or motorcycles). I could find no normal speedo "cable" - so I believe it is electronic.

My speedometer stuck at zero until I hit the dash with my hand, then it operates normally. I think its a loose connection where the harness plug meets the gauge circuit board. Going to run tests with the front wheels off the ground to find out.

About 3 weeks ago I went to start up my 2009 Honda Civic Sedan lx and lights came on and everything but wouldn't start. On the third time trying to start it none of the lights came on, so I changed the battery. I tried starting it with the new battery, all lights came on perfectly, but it wouldn't turn over. I changed the starter and the car ran fine with no problems for maybe 2 weeks. This morning I was driving down the road when the check engine light came on and the engine suddenly started to rev up uncontrollably. I was able to brake but it was very hard to do because the engine kept revving. Without my foot on the brake the car was going 30 something mph, when I braked and got below 15 I felt a hard downshift. Has anyone had these simliar problems or know what might have cause this kind of behavior? 3 Answers

I brought my 2007 Honda civic to the dealer because cylinders 1 and 4 were misfiring. After days at the dealer they tried everything possible and continued to state that my parts were all working and that they had never seen anything like this. Well, after 3 days and a call to Honda America turns out that that the last time I had gotten gas the gas was mixed with enough water to cause the issue. I now have a case open with the 7-11 mobile, a claim number, Adjuster and I have also contacted an Attorney as I have had to rent a car and due to all of the labor.hours put into my car the cost is about $1500.
