honda civic 2000 want start when I hit the clutch. only way it starts if I push to start. so what could it be?

Bad clutch switch. There should be a switch at the top of the peddle.
Well, the run position works in the ignition switch, that's all you have really proven, besides that it can run. You would define your symptom as no start/ won't crank/ but push starts. When a starter passes a bench test, the next step is to verify start enable circuit sends power there in "start" precautions and conditions met, it would light a test light or have battery voltage on the little wire at the starter, is that happenning? If you cannot answer that, then push start and have a friend follow you to your choice of acura repair shop.
