I recently started experiencing some trouble with
my car when accelerating the engine light comes on
and when hold down the pedal down hard it revs up
and starts to slow down and not going any faster
when I turn off my car it starts to work fine but than
a few minutes laters it does the same thing, please
if anyone has experienced the same situation or
know what sort of problem this is please help.

Most likely a transmission issue the way you describe it. Would definitely bring it in to an auto shop asap.

i had a few issues where the car would not go but would sputter and go slow instead. in one case it was a ice block, blocking my oil pump which caused my oil filter to get sqeezed and cause engine issues due to the sensor in hte middle of it. the other time it was the throttle body going bad.

I just had the issue with the check engine light coming on and the car not having any power, car has 107,300 miles on it, needs a new throttle body. I have a 2012 Jetta SEL
