I'm Baaaaack! What next? Good Subaru technicians in Harrisburg PA area.

Asked by Jonnymo Mar 20, 2018 at 08:32 AM about the 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So after spending over $500 bucks on the repair detailed on the attached invoice, the same dash lights have come one again four days later.  CHECK ENGINE, CRUISE indicator flashing (no Cruise) and Traction Control indicator stuck on.  If I give my mechanic one chance to make this right and that doesn't work, what next?  Thank you, Jon

If you give your mechanic one more chance and the problem persists, I would ask for my money back and go to a different mechanic. Seriously!

Poor guy: all that labor to test a simple solenoid.... Before you blame your wrench, first GET THE DAMNED CEL READ, as it may be COMPLETELY unrelated to the first system event. You may simply have a loose gas cap, or even a weird steering wheel angle sensor. So scan the ECM and report code here (and to your wrench) and proceed. Only if you have the identical code from the first scenario do you have a beef with him, as dropping the rear end is a pain in the ass. (Note that all minor emissions-related events result in a lit CEL AND THE OTHER WARNING LIGHTS YOU SEE. Subie does this simply to light the Christmas tree so you pay attention to the CEL.)
