It could, it could also affect the MAF sensor which could lean to a 'too lean' condition. If you're having problems with your car take it to an auto parts store like Autozone, Advance, O'reilly/Pep boys and have them do a free scan for trouble codes. Then post those codes here. While your there get yourself a new air filter.
