Ford Focus Bogging out, Help!! Poor kid is stranded without it.
I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE 2.0 DOHC (Zetec) . Having a major motor issue. It starts and runs fantastic for about 5 minutes. Then idles great, but if you hit the accellerator quick, it bogs out until you let go. Then idles high but smooth, and slowly returns to idle. If you hit the gas quick and hold it there it bogs about 1000rpm and just sits there bogging out. If you push the gas real slow it revs up great and all the way. If you hit the gas slow, bring it up to about a safe 4000rpm, and hold it there. It runs smooth and great for 30 seconds, then drops off 1000rpm, then still smooth climbs back up for another 30 sec, then repeats. So quick throttle bogs 1000rpm, slow accerates but fluctuates 1000rpm every 30seconds. The further it warms up the worse it gets until eventually it will barely run, coffs sputters, misses and dies. So far. 2 new fuel pumps, both good but was baffled so tried again with another new one. Fuel pressure is good, although I have no way to test it. I have an enhance ford tester, but it only has pump output voltage and duty cycle, no pressure reading. But if you pull a fuel line when turned off, its pressurized and blasts you, so the pump is pressurizing. New ingnition coil pack, new cam sensor, fixed collapsing PCV line to throttle body.I get no codes until it is completly dieing and missing etc. Then I get all the codes associated with the misses. If I unplug the maf sensor, it stutters then stalls , so I assume its working. Fuel seems ok because it accerates all the way if you go slow on the pedal. Only in park of course, not driveable like this. If the crank sensor went, it shouldn't run at all, so assume that is working. My scanner tells me little other than codes when it fails, not before when its failing but still bucking. Could this be a throttle position sensor? Injector pressure sensor (changed in 00 under recall) Crank sensor? Holy Im stumped. Worse, making me baffled is it gets worse the hotter it gets, leave over night, start all over again. Something fails as it warms up, what can it be. Catalytic converter? Seem to get lots of exhaust out back, and does increase when accerating so its not plugged. What could this be? Tossed a lot of dollars at it so far, no results. Help1
