Ok we bought this 1999 Jeep about two years ago and it runs great, but my brother in law wired the stereo to the cigarette lighter ? And the stereo is pulling the battery down I don’t know how to get to the wiring to I wire it myself . It has new battery on it and I have had the alternator check out (it all good ) but battery is being drained everynight , must be that stereo ... any suggestions

Very carefully remove wires, one by one, to avoid a short in the electrical system and have blown fuses.

If you have no idea how to get behind the dash, you have to take it to a shop. It used to be that it very easy to access the bulbs, and gauges on the dash in older cars, mid-1960's and back (the classics), not any more. It is a breeze to remove any dash components in my 1957 Ford Fairlane, but then, it is a classic.

For a quick fix to stop the drain, locate the fuse for the lighter circuit and remove it. You may loose power to a few other accessories but it will stop the drain and give you time to determine what you want to do.
