93 Cherokee not firing

Asked by GuruDLYJR Aug 26, 2017 at 08:39 AM about the 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 93 Cherokee sport either the 4 lite
er. After running on the dunes for about
two hours with no issues what so ever. I
stopped at the grocery store and came out
and it would not fire. There is no spark I
pulled the distributor cab ( replaced about
6 months ago) I cleaned the metal tabs and
pulled the plugs and I'm getting no spark. I
confirmed with starter fluid. I changed the
crank shat position sensor and it's still not
firing, now when I attempt in start I get my
dash lights to come on. then they go out
when I try to start and all I get is a click, if I
drop it in neutral I turns over and won't fire.
Please help

running on the dunes for 2 hours? do you do that often? Most people who thrash their vehicles like that have pit crews to keep their race trucks running- I don't feel like doing the work of a pit crew here, this morning-
