Is check engine light on? If so what are the codes?

Has your Timing belt been serviced regularly sometimes it could slip causing a timing issue could be spark plug issues. In mercedes itll do that if you run the wrong gas but im pretty sure your car doesnt take premium. when the car lags does any colored smoke or anything come out of the tail pipe?
