mitsubishi start up problem

Hey I have a 2002 eclipse that is lacking fuel but it could
be that it doesn't have enough spark. I crank the switch
and spray starting fluid and it turns over but doesn't
really stay on . if it does motor turns off in 1 min or so .
Any thought s of what it could be?
