01 eclipse 2.4 liter Manuel trans. When trying to start it clicks one time and will do noting else if u keep trying it will start some times. Any idea what's causing this?

Sounds like a bad starter.(check the connections at the starter- make sure they are clean and tight) All they are is an electric motor. If they get a bad spot on the armature and it comes to a stop on the bad spot the next time you try to start the car this is what happens. By "bumping" the starter, by repeatedly turning the key, it's trying to get off of the bad spot. Then it will start....sometimes. Get it looked at and/or replaced or it will leave you sitting at some point soon.

More specifically, the starter solenoid. Easier to get the starter with the solenoid already attached instead of buying a solenoid separately and installing it. Either way you still have to remove the starter assembly
