Check your transmission dip stick while the vehicle is running. If there isn't any fluid on the stick, add a quarter quart of trans fluid (vehicle appropriate) at a time until it is in the cold zone. If your car has been sitting in the same spot for a while, look on the ground and see if your transmission has sprung a leak anywhere noticeable.
