why is my car starting but then dying

i have a 2000 mitsibushi eclipse for about 3 weeks now it drove just fine then a
couple of days ago it quit shifting then today it just started dieing it starts we
get going and we stop it dies we have checked the fuel theres plenty of gas and
the sparks ARE GOOD
