have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse having problems with the starter not engaging I need help I've been doing this for about a month trying to figure this out nobody has answered can somebody help

It is a new starter and torque converter
everything new just won't engage worked
when I first got it can't seem to find the spot
for the starter to sit what are yalls best
ideas cuz I'm out of options I've tried
everything

if the starter is still good..shim and adjust it..did the nose match up even the thickness of the starters mounting pad?

Lol, firebird,they like getting multible answers,just gives the more to look for,but some times for a DIY,it makes it harder to narrow it down,to the right thing.
