Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 97 Explorer doesn't like to start after a short trip, The starter hesitates, then starts. I
lose all lights on the inside like the battery was disconnected. The cables are tight.
Doesn't do it after sitting all night or at work, only after a short trip.

Sounds like a bad battery, alternator or the starter itself.
If you can the cheapest way out is changing the starter cylinode
How old is your battery? If you had a recent cold snap and the battery is over three years old, it's probably that. If you purchase a battery, have them check out the alternator while they are at it.
