Did anyone have their dealership mention the Accessory Mode? Now they are saying that you left the car in Accessory Mode? Looked all through the manual and cannot find anything about Accessory Mode?

The general manager at Johnson City Honda is accusing us of leaving the car
in Accessory Mode...and this is the reason our car battery was dead 4 times in
less than a month..Have tried to find out what that is??? There is nothing in
the manual about Accessory Mode. Any suggestions?

After coming to a stop, press the Engine Start/Stop button once - BEFORE you move the shift lever to Park. Engine stops, power switches to Accessory and audio continues uninterrupted. Then shift to Park. This is shown rather cryptically in the diagram on page 172 of the 2018 Owner's Manual. The small dark grey arrow shows what happens when you "Press the button without the shift lever in P".
Tell the dealer to show you in the manual!
Maybe I can help. When you get into the vehicle and you press the start stop button without pressing the brakes pedal, the vehicle goes into accessory mode, the audio system and accessories will be on, press the start stop button again, then all electrical components are active. If you are just driving, then when you want to turn off the vehicle, put the shifter into park and press the start stop button to turn off the engine and then the accessories. Page 106 of your owners manual.
This happened to me 3 times. I think I am losing my mind! New battery just went dead! Something is wrong. Honda CR-V 2018
I just found out about accessory mode! Went out to my car this morning and got in and tried to start it and the dash lit up and was saying something about brake malfunction and all the display symbols lit up! Car would not start! So I contacted dealership and service person told me to jump it off and bring battery in for them to check. I’ve only had my Honda CRV 3.5 months! I guess after I jump it off I will have to make sure I depress the brake and the. Push the start button
For three days in a row the same thing happened to my2018 accord hybrid. Dash lit up with the same brake malfunction and all the other lights and then went into accessory mode and then nothing. Like lost all the electrical power.
The verdict for my issue was a bad cell in the battery. Replaced battery and now is perfect.

My 2019 Honda Accord hybrid (3k miles!) has been doing this for the last 6 months and getting worse and worse. Jumped last Thursday, Sunday and Monday morning, it won’t start again. Service appt this Wednesday. Can’t get out of Accessory Mode. My brake notice comes up, too. I need a non-Honda car!
I was sitting in my car and had it in Accessory mode while waiting for someone and after 10 minutes it all went dead. I started my my car to make sure my battery wasn’t dead (Which it shouldn’t I just bought it new in November) it started no problem. I thought hm maybe it’s a safety feature but there is nothing in the manual? I hope I don’t have a problem with my new car ☹️

My car wouldn't start this morning-its a month old new CRV2021. The dealer told me I could have left it in Accessory Mode. I got in and nothing would turn on. CAA came and jumped the battery, now the dealer is telling me I could have left it in ACCESSORY MODE over night....??? WHAT???
I just drove an hour to pick up my friend at work who has a 2018 honda accord hybrid-- I got accessory mode on dash when I tried to start/it was actually on when I got in car. I looked in the index in owners manual and nothing. I hit brake and start button and nothing. Then I got some warning about brakes for a few seconds--I tried and tried again. I found key hidden in the key fob---but no place to insert it to start car, its just to lock doors. Never would have found that key if i did not stumble across a picture of key fob in owners manual. I spoke to road side assistance and tried hitting start button without foot on brake---that did nothing. He said I have a battery problem. I left the car and accessory warning still lit and radio... Gonna have battery problem for sure tomorrow... curious how they tow it, since you can not put in neutral without starting----bring back old key in ignition is what I say!!!

Big Corporate America is not ever going to admit a recall need to a serious car problem, they will always blame the user. Really, like we do not know how to start a car with a keyFOB???? I have a 2015 CRV and this Accessory Mode issue has gotten worst and worst, I have almost been stranded in some bad places. Honda will not admit fault. I have replaced the battery twice, there is obviously a short in the electrical system....... I never had a single problem starting this car for 6 years, why is it happening now? Am I suddenly starting my car and turning it off differently than I did the past 6 years. BS.....
