after my car is driven a couple of miles and sits for a hour it won't start, after a couple hours it starts' what would cause this?

Try getting the crank position sensor looked at. Mine did this, check engine light came on and went off, thought it was the gas cap. Then it did it again and the car wouldn't start. Sounded like it was just out of gas. If this is the problem you will also need to get the cam position sensor replaced as well. They go out at the same time. Also if you do need to get these replaces, get an oil change at the same time. Otherwise the oil from having those sensors changed will cause fumes that are light but very visible if standing behind the car.
