Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Nissan Altima automatic, it runs fine
sometimes it may jerk, it also smokes only when I
start it up,and it runs pretty good;per my research
sounds like I may be having some transmission or
possible head gasket issues?? Any insight would
be great

Smokes when cranked and it stops (if so) then its valve stem seals and can be replaced without removing the head. Jerking trans maybe but could be other issues or needs tune up, Head gasket, do a compression check on all cylinders, do a test for exhaust in coolant, If its running hot check fans & sensors, Water pump, thermostat, hoses, radiator flushed and may need a engine & radiator coolant flush. Check fuel pressure. Take to a trans man and get the trans serviced and check sensors it has out good. If check engine light is on have it read for codes. Trans has a separate computer reader to see those trans codes and need to check them too.

I got an oil change about 2 weeks ago thinking that would help, not so much, so today I got a tune, and was advised to put some no smoke in the oil and it smoked terrible after that for about 5mins then it does smoke anymore.. Will that help?

I also had autozone read it and it only came back that I needed a thermostat, but the heat works perfect

The thermostat is for the coolant and is not the heater thermostat in you cabin, but could affect some of that but there is not a code specific for thermostat so that is a guess and is a symptom or possible cause for that code to set, so it needs something may just be a bad electrical connection or needs a sensor or those listed above checked out to & may need the cooling system bleed of air.
