Shifting problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1997 taurus  trans. some time will not come out of park it locks up. If you put the key in and turn to first notch with know brake you can shift it to neurtal then start it

check to see if you have brake lites the brake lites and shift interlock work off of same switch under dash,hope this helps
