My 1998 Nissan won’t start after being driven and parked. It will start after waiting about an hour. What’s wrong?

If it cranks but won't start I would say a faulty fuel pressure regulator, but you really don't say.

It does absolutely nothing when I turn the key. No click, no nothing. It’s a manual transmission, if that matters. I thought it was the battery, so drove it on highway for about 25 miles, but next morning, same thing. It started fine, went to gym, came out in about 45”, and nothing, not even a click.

Sounds like low battery voltage,If the battery is 4 years old or older it's time for a replacement.
