Solenoid

Starter solenoid sorry , most say it's on the firewall but I can't find it on the big old van

That one is likely part of the starter. Look on the starter to see if there is a small round thing bolted to the big round thing, if so you have found the solenoid. By the way, which engine do you have?

Ok thanks both of you I will look again but there does look to be a solenoid on the starter just didn't know if these newer ones still had a solenoid on the firewall as well

If the starter has more than 1 wire on it the solenoid is integrated into the starter. It will have only one.

Yes you were right , my starter was totally shot but I only have 75,000 miles so I found it crazy and was trying to see what it could be . Thanks for you guys help
