My 2002 Pontiac sunfire died while driving down the road ! Any ideas why?
We bought it about a month ago and it has 163k on it, but runs better than the Grand Prix
that broke down on me about two months ago... I got gas and wheni took off I made it
about 1/4 mileaway from gas station when trac off and check engine came on and shut
car down breaks locked up. I brought it back home changed the spark plugs and bought
mass air intake spray and still won't start! Sounds almost like it is not getting a spark or
there is no gas going to the motor help ?!

just test the wires goin' to it....if there is continuity...the pump is okay....would check the ignition relay and the MAIN ground lug....wirebrush that one and reconnect it....with restored ground things will start to behave themselves~
If the car was running okay before you got gas, there's two possibilities. 1) you got a tank of bad gas, stalled the engine, so you lost brakes. That's normal. Try shooting some starting fluid into the air intake, if it fires up, then indeed you got bad gas. Or 2) your vapor recovery system got flooded when you filled the tank, and now the ECM is confused. Is there a trouble code you can post? that will help figure out what's going on.
Where would I find the trouble code?
Cboc, if you can get the car to PepBoys or AutoZone, they will read the trouble code off the OBD port (On Board Diagnostics) for you, for free. Without that information, you're really working in the dark. Did you try starting fluid?
ye this is exactly what happened to me as well but where is the fuel pump located? i cant rely on anybody to chek and i am a women so i am going to see myslf and how is it supposed to look if thats the problem? but the battery is dead after leaving the hazard lights on all night after stalling when the engine light came on and coming to a stop light it shut down on me n it cranks making a whirring sound like slipping i gues and poured gasline antifreeze but still wudnt start so how can i rechrg it or is it no good nymore?
If I understand your question: The car stalled, would not start. The battery ran down after using the hazard lights all night. First: get the battery charged up, try to start the car. If you want to try starting fluid, remove the air filter and have someone squirt the fluid into the air box. If the car starts but won't stay running, you have a fuel problem. This can be an empty tank (! yes is happens), clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, bad relay, ( its one of those last two if you don't hear the pump running for a brief second when you put the key in the 'on' position). It can also be a blocked vapor recovery system, water in the fuel, bad injectors or a host of other engine control electronic issues. Too much to diagnose without the OBD trouble code.
