96 3.8L LX performance advice for a newbie!

Hello everyone from a newbie. Here's my situation. I bought a 96 LX 3.8L with only 72K. Pretty much a creampuff, female original owner, garaged, all sched maint, etc. The problem is that it could use a few xtra ponies. Compression and other vitals are right on the money. Never dyno'd but I would guess HP would be close to the spec 145. What's the best route to take, intake? exhaust? chip? I think a supercharger would be out of my $$$ range. Would a supercoupe charger bolt up? I'd hate to pull out a solid engine like this, but does a 4.6 or 5.0 bolt to the 3sp OD auto? Any advice or suggestions would be a lot of help. THANX!

to bad it is not a SC I got 3 of them,not much u can do ,cold air induction.& no the V8 s will not hook to the tranny.
