i have a 96 thunderbird when i start it up it goes to the number 3 rpm and stays there can you tell me whts wrong with it ty

It's your throttle sensor I would say. Does it ever go down like at all?

u mean that's as high as u can get it pushing down on the gas pedal? i'd say fuel filter

If it revs/idles to 3,000 RPM's without touching the accelerator... Large Vacuum leak AFTER the throttle body... Idle Air Control Valve Sticking (common) Throttle body dirty/stuck open... Accelerator linkage stuck or out of adjustment.........Throttle Position Sensor can cause a high idle, but there usually not enough air getting into the engine for it to rev to 3k.
