Installing a new ac compressor on a gm 2.4, do I have to put oil in the compressor before installing, and will it work without oil?

Most new compressors that I know of has oil in them already check with where you purchased the compressor and ask or the instructions should tell you if it has oil in it already.
On a new compressor installation it is always recommended by the manufacturer to install oil into the back of the compressor on the suction side. Then place the compressor on a level work bench and turn the pulley to distribute this oil. Since this is a new replacement the a/c companies recommend that you also replace the accumulator and the orifice tube on your GM car and have the system flushed to remove any system contamination.
