Need help locating the plug wires on a 1998 Pontiac sunfire.

Not sure what finding the spark plug wires has to do with the car not shifting out of 1st gear, but they run along side of the engine block between the distributor and the plug for each cylinder. A four cylinder car will have all 4 on the same side of the engine but a V^ will have 3 along each side. Hope this helps.
