1997 pontiac trans am v8 idles to fast until you stop

lizardwatch it sounds like ur throttle is sticking. try using wd40 and a small amount of grease and that should fix ur problem

I did what you said it still idles at about 1100 goes all the way to the stop

Check for a vacuum leak.

The Idle Air Control valve (IAC) may have a problem.

followed up an replaced 3 bad rubber connections rpm came down 100 rpm still at 1000 at idle Manuel does not say what rpm it should be have a new throttle position unit I have not put on yet will also look into getting a new I A C an go from there thank you very much

will sure get back with you I am into classic autos but this project is just to new

have changed every hose that was cracked or loose replaced idle air control valve also replaced throttle position sensor still idles at 1100 rpm
