car dying

When I hit the breaks to stop it will die what would cause this

There are three main areas that you can look into. 1. Fuel system, most common is fuel pump, injectors, or gas filter clogged. 2. Airflow system, EGR value is often the case, do you have a Check engine light? 3. Electrical system, dle speed sensor or mass air flow sensor is possibly bad.
