The center digital clock display “flickers” really fast
for about a minute then stops. It has happened
twice now in the past week.

In these Covid times many of us have lost our sense of proper circadian rhythm. Maybe your Subie's just reminding you of the correct time a bit aggressively? (Sorry...couldn't help it.)
