Genesis, the luxury extension of Hyundai Motor Group, offers subcompact, compact, and midsize SUVs. However, a full-size flagship has been missing from the line-up since the brand launched in 2015. That looks set to change as the Genesis Neolun Concept was shown for the first time at Genesis House in New York in March 2024. We expect this concept to evolve into production as the Genesis GV90, an all-new, all-electric full-size SUV that will become the standard-bearer for the automaker.
Here’s everything we know so far about the 2026 Genesis GV90 electric SUV. Be sure to bookmark this page: we’ll update it as we receive more information.

2026 Genesis GV90 styling
Genesis styling tends to be out-there by luxury standards but still relatively staid compared to mainstream stablemates from Hyundai and Kia. The Neolun Concept follows this ethos with what the brand terms “reductive design,” which features clean lines a minimum of extraneous details.
At the front, the GV90 earns brand recognition through an extension of the luxury brand’s two-line lighting signature, which is elongated to wrap around wheel wells. The bottom of the two lines descends into a V shape at the front of the vehicle to create a detail similar to a grille. Electric side steps will be integrated to help occupants get into and out of this large SUV.
We’re used to seeing coach doors and vanishing B pillars on concept vehicles as designers exercise their creativity. However, this layout is generally not considered feasible due to structural integrity concerns. In the Genesis GV90, though, the brand hints this layout could actually make it to production.
“Development of the B-pillarless coach doors has reached a level where its application to production vehicles is now feasible,” according to Genesis.
2026 Genesis GV90 interior design and practicality
While the lack of a B pillar may see production, we expect many of the interior design details shown in the Neolun Concept will not.
In the concept, the front seats swivel to face the second row. This looks great in theory but is rarely applied in practice. The materials used in the Neolun Concept include cashmere, leather, and wood flooring, and Genesis says the speakers in the sound system has been laid out to create a concert hall-like feel.
Neolun is also fitted with an intriguing radiant heating system, which applies a film to surfaces such as the dashboard, floor, and door trim. This plays off the concept of “ondol,” integrated heating that is found in both traditional and modern homes throughout Korea.
A yoke-like steering wheel, a single large central infotainment screen with no separate instrument cluster, and roof-mounted screens for rear passengers add to the futuristic look and feel. Again, though, it’s not clear which, if any, of these features will make the cut and appear in the new model.
2026 Genesis GV90 engines, motors and drive
As far as driving systems and powertrains go, nothing is official yet about the 2026 model year Genesis GV90 SUV except that it will be a fully electric vehicle. It will be one of the first large SUVs to hit the market as a battery EV, a list that also includes the Rivian R1S and the GMC Hummer EV SUV.
Rumours suggest the GV90 will not use the E-GMP platform that has underpinned other Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis EVs (such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and electrified GV70) to this point. Instead, it is likely to become the first model to use a new platform, dubbed eM. This opens up possibilities such as more horsepower and a longer range (with a greater-kWh battery pack) than other Hyundai Group EVs, with some reports suggesting range could be as high as 800 kilometres from a full charge. Expect to see standard all-wheel drive and some luxury suspension bits such as adaptive dampers and an air suspension.
2026 Genesis GV90 price and release date
There’s been no official word from Genesis yet on when the luxury electric SUV might enter production (and, in fact, a production-ready version has not yet been shown as of this writing). We expect the GV90 will go into production late in 2025 as a 2026 model. For Canada, pricing could be in the $120,000 to $150,000 range. This means the GV90 will not qualify for rebates, and it is very likely to be subject to luxury tax. We predict the GV90 will be offered in Canada in a single, well-equipped trim when it hits the market sometime late in 2025.
