FCA Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stellantis North America that oversees the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Fiat brands in the Canadian market, does not operate a centralized certified pre-owned vehicle (CPO) program at the corporate level. Instead, dealerships handle certified pre-owned vehicle programs independently.
For the Dodge brand, while there are no formal requirements for sale of certified used vehicles, those sold as CPO tend to be defined by dealerships as:
- Being from within the last 6 model years
- Having fewer than 180,000 kilometres on the odometer
- Having undergone a detailed multi-point inspection and reconditioning process
- Not being declared an insurance loss or having undergone significant damage in a collision
- Not having modifications from the original manufacturer specifications
Warranties
Dodge CPO vehicles may be sold with any remaining factory warranties, including the powertrain limited warranty, transferred to the new owner. Extended warranty coverage may be offered at an extra cost.
Perks
Roadside Assistance
In Canada, a used car sold as CPO by Dodge dealerships may include access to FCA Canada’s 24/7 roadside assistance program if service remains in effect and is transferrable from the original new vehicle purchase.
Carfax Report
A Carfax vehicle history report is often provided with CPO vehicles by the selling dealership free of charge.
Exchange Privilege
Some dealers offer CPO buyers a limited-term exchange privilege to another CPO vehicle should the buyer be unsatisfied with the purchase.
Substitute Transportation
Should repairs be required within a specified timeframe of purchasing a CPO vehicle, some dealers may offer coverage for a form of substitute transportation such as a rental allowance or use of a loaner vehicle for the duration of the repair period.
Special Financing Rates
Some dealers offer special financing options that are exclusive to certified pre-owned customers.
