I purchased this Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 2008 V6 AWD in March 2019 for $6800.00 and 123000 miles.
I replaced all brake parts myself immediately after purchasing it and the tires. Later on I installed a GPS system and it is working with all functions on the steering wheel. On June 2023 I replaced the tires. So far this SUV is working flawless with 165000 miles. I recommend the Mitsubishi Outlander V6 knowing that this type of engine is no longer installed in the last Outlander SUVs.May 28, 2024

Disappointed that it didnt have backup camera or push button ignition but the cargo area is larger then the 2015 model. Other then that they are pretty much the sameSep 06, 2023

Good features during its time. The V6 engine is a good design, even tho it has a rubber timing belt. Our 07 Outlander still has the original engine and trans, and was trouble free even till after 330k miles. Jun 13, 2023

The outlander I found to be a bad deal as it was priced at a much higher rate than I the condition it was in. Thus; the value was not good. The car was missing mechanical work needing to be done. Jan 17, 2022

Mitsubishi designed a very good family vehicle with many fun to drive characteristics. The visibility, forward and back, is very good. There are no blind spots. Acceleration is good to almost sporty. Handling, especially around corners, is stable and solid, with a minimal amount of leaning. Power is adequate at highway speeds, even for passing. The instruments are laid out well and are easily seen by the driver. The voice activated, Bluetooth works great, for hands-free cellular activity. Maintenance on the Outlander is a breeze, even for the "D.I.Yer." This should be a vehicle to consider, when looking for an SUV.Aug 26, 2014

Mitsubishi did many good things with the 2007 Outlander. It is larger than the older versions, for both the passenger and cargo areas. The two front seats each have the leg room of a larger vehicle. The back seat is also very comfortable and since the seat-backs are adjustable and the seats can move forward and back, there is ample leg room, even for tall persons. There is very good visibility providing the driver with a feeling of security whether at highway speeds for passing or, in congested city driving. The power from the v-6 engine is quite adequate and very smooth. The designers put cup holders everywhere! The instrument panel is well thought out and very easy for the driver to see and control systems. The EPA mileage rating can be exceeded, without too much trouble, especially on the highway. All things considered, a great family car that is a pleasure to drive. Aug 25, 2014

It's one of the best SUV in his class. The size is perfect. The engine has enough power toe a small boat. 3rd row can be usefull with small children. The xenon light are powerfull and provide a great night vision. The 4x4 system is excellent in snow.Feb 07, 2014

Build quality could be better. It has huge blind spots at the A pillar where the mirrors are . The engine is very noisy. This car is pretty reliable and looks good for the price we paid. I would say best value in its class.Jun 10, 2013

Decent power from the 168 HP 2.4 L 4 cylinder and CVT auto. transmission. Fuel economy is just ok...could be better. 4WD option is great, especially the ability to lock the 4WD in place with a convenient knob near the shifter. Very nice cloth seats w/Black leather trim. Interior fit and finish & overall build quality is very good. Dual opening glove box is a nice touch. Rockford Fosgate Sound System w/7 speakers sounds awesome! Great front and rear seat room and 3rd row seat (which I probably will NEVER use) is available for 2 unexpected passengers (Mitsu calls them "Emergency Seats"..very appropriate..as in I've already got 5 people in the car and TWO friends in the same car break down in sub-zero weather and I happen to be close by). Cargo room excellent and love the pull-out tailgate for loading/unloading. Side mirrors are nice size (not too big, but big enough to give you excellent visibility). Not quite sure how I feel about the spare tire located outside tucked under the bottom in the back of the SUV. Awesome Exterior Design...Front end has the grill from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution giving it a more aggressive and sporty look than previous model, but not too over the top either. It's also a car-based SUV built on the Lancer platform, so handling and road feel are both very good. Traction/Stability Control standard in the SE 4WD Model.Jan 22, 2013

Aug 22, 2012

I like the size and cargo capacity (2nd row seats fold forward). It is sharp looking and gets decent mileage on the highway. Front seats could be more comfortable. Dig the paddle shifters, but the transmission (auto) shifts too much from 6th when going up hills. Can go from auto shift to manual shift with cruise control on, which alleviates all the shifting. Great for going up hills manually shifting w/o having the cruise disengage. Good low-end torque, but top end is shallow. Typical V6 these days.Jul 20, 2012

The SUV is sporty and the added stereo system makes this 3 row SUV bumpin! The all-wheel drive capability helps this SUV grip the road no matter what terrain it encounters. The seats are plush and very comfortable for long rides.Jun 07, 2012

Smooth riding sport utility vehicle. Engine was a four cylinder so it is lacking in the performance department. The semi-automatic transmission is a pretty neat feature if you want to be able to override the automatic mode and have more control in certain situations. If you are looking for an suv that gets decent gas mileage, has a smooth ride, and has lots of bells and whistles, this is a good pick.Jul 30, 2010

The 3.0 220 hp V6 is a bit small. It needs the 3.5 235 hp V6 (not an option)
No repaires (not self induced) needed.
Al roof cuts weight, and inproves skid control. A bit small 3rd row is cramped
Great kid mover.Oct 28, 2009

After looking at small SUVs for over a year I believe I made the best choice for me. This vehicle is primarily for me and my dogs. Lots of room in the way back with the seats folded forward. The mileage is better than expected - already averaging a bit over 24 mpg. Red looks great. Of all the smaller SUV the Outlander is not a woman's car. So many of the smaller SUVs are. Gas mileage is a consideration today and attempting to be environmentally smart a larger SUV just didn't fit. The ealership was easy to deal with. The few times I've used the back seats - the room is more than enough for my kid's - 5'9" and 6'1". They llike the reclining feature. My dogs are very comfortable and the dropped tailgate is easier on their backends to jump up and will be as they get older. Visibility is very good. Ride is comfortable. The Outlander is fun to drive, we'll see how it handles in the terible weather we are soon to receive in Northeastern Ohio. I'm out no matter what the weather is so winter safety for myself and the dogs is of upmost importance.Oct 06, 2009

So far, the acceleration and handling are
great, steering radius is good, and the
fuel economy for a 6 speed V6 automatic
is Excellent! The in dash GPS/HDD
combined navigation with the rockford
fosgate speakers make for a fantastic
combination. It is a blast to drive! I
will update more once I have had it
longer.
5 years in, it's as great as the first day I got it. Truly a great vehicle!May 17, 2009

I started out not liking SUVs at all, I believed all of them to be wasteful vehicles. I didn't feel the need to change this view until I drove this vehicle, now I have to drive them in order to say whether I still have this view.
The Outlander with its V6 engine moves the SUV rather well. Its not lightning quick but it never feels delayed and its great to drive on the highway. Normally big, tall, heavy SUVs feel terrible going around corners the Outlander actually feels like a car when it comes to corners. Other than more power, there's nothing more to improve for the Outlander.
The interior is really the weakest part of the Outlander. The plastics aren't very attractive and it feels bigger than it really is. The seats are quite comfortable for cloth seats and it has extra seats in the rear although the passengers in the 3rd row will need to be small to feel comfortable. Its best suited for 5 seating, the 7 seating configuration does cancel my criticism of wasteful SUVs. The car is started with a keyless system, if your key fob is not present in the car it won't start which is neat. The build quality despite being from Japan isn't spectacular but rather average.
In the case of reliability for Mitsubishi, this is the only time where I haven't found the criticisms of Mitsubishi to be founded. None of these have given me any issues. The fuel tank is the worst aspect though, it has SUV consumption but a pathetic 50L tank forcing you to fill up frequently.
Overall I really like this SUV, this is the best SUV I've driven. Maybe there is a better one I've yet to drive but for now I crown this Outlander as something I'd recommend any day.Jan 17, 2009

Picking it up in 1-2 weeks. The test car was perfect. Drives like a smaller car.
Great space, a bit smaller heads space in the back.
Split tailgate is a nice touch. Outside is not too fancy, but still gorgeous.
Interior is simple clear, with the nav option lots of gadgets, great music system.
Good value for the money.Oct 31, 2008
