Base on internet reviews and Ford multiple engines and transmissions problems. Buying any Ford Expedition to me is a big risk in the long run. Feb 20, 2021

The Ford Expedition is a wonderful family car. It's cargo space is great for traveling, camping, and every day use. Our only dislike was the MPG. Now that gas prices have decreased, even that is a non-issue. Great family vehicle!Apr 12, 2015

I've used this for hauling trailers, boats, other cars and trucks, and lots of people. I've never had any down time with it. Absolutely reliable. As the saying goes, "built Ford tough." The interior is fairly basic, no frills. This was a Special Service package, intended for police and fire department use. The tow package has been worth its weight in gold. I've hauled some serious weight over long distances, up mountains and never had a single issue with the Expedition. Maintenance is an absolute breeze, well thought-out engineering and design. I've since sold my Expedition but have committed to buying another one soon, as this was among my favorite SUVs ever.Dec 08, 2014

I have owned my Expedition for nine years and holding! Just recently have had to drop some serious money into it. Still worth fixing compared to buying another one. Because I would want another one just like it!! Great family vehicle, lots of room and comfortable for long road trips!May 15, 2014

Great car except it is expensive to drive. Fuel cost for in town driving excessive. Highway driving is not bad as long as you stay out of the pedal. This vehicle has plenty of room for 8 people or a large family. It is also good for pulling trailers.Jan 11, 2014

For many years owned and truck and small car for daily commutes. Combined everything into one vehicle thus not having to upkeep two. Large and comfortable for family trips, hauling soccer team, at the same time nice enough to go out with the spouse and then served as a work horse to go to local building supply to pickup materials .....excellent multipurpose vehicle. Independent rear suspension makes it handle very well. Plus its a Ford.Jan 01, 2014

The only better SUV on the road was our 2000 Ford Excursion Diesel. We lived in snow country then and it was so neat to have an SUV that would pull those 8% grades without a hick-up. Since they don't make that one anymore, we choose to go with the Expedition and it is our mini-excursion (without the diesel engine of course).Jul 05, 2013

I owned this car for 7 years and it worked out great for me. It did everything it was supposed to and did it with comfort and style. It took me from Connecticut to Sunset Beach, NC over 15 times and always made the 13 hour trip comfortable.May 06, 2013

This is my second Expedition. This one doesnt have heated seats, this a must in Michigan. The power is phenomenal and the ride is priceless. This vehicle is great for every day work transportation, toting the kids to and fro and going out for a night on the town with the wifey!Nov 08, 2012

My expedition is a retired sheriff search & rescue k-9 unit that came with all the maintenance records. The computer was flashed at ford to increase performance and I added a high voltage ignition sys and throttle body spacer to gain 29+ mpg on the highway. With it being a government truck they kept very good maintenance on it with full records. I’ve had no break downs or worn parts due to its time as a k-9 unit. Search & rescue units seem to have less wear and abuse than patrol or drug enforcement units.Jul 15, 2012

Smooth ride, comfort, style, affordability, great body design, many features/options...dependability, & this vehicle has the capacity to perform many additional duties aside from transporting children safely & comfortably. The expedition is truly an SUV with much to offer, & the options are great!Apr 12, 2012

Good SUV. The power fold down 3rd row is quite possibly my favorite feature of this SUV. Having owned SUV's without this option, I never realized what a hassle it was to have the seats that did not fold flat.
We have had ZERO issues with our car. It's been very reliable and affordable. Feb 18, 2011

Great SUV. VERY comfortable and could tow a house if you could figure out how to attach it. I guess for the size, the mileage is not that bad... 13 town and 18 highway. It was better before I was forced to buy 10% Ethanol That seems to be the biggest joke on the American motorist ever perpetrated. Cuts the mileage by 10% also. This has made corn product go higher in the process. When are we going to go to hydrogen? Burn water!
I have read articles on this car and they seem to find things wrong with it that I don't. I think a lot of the problems people have are from their own doing. Routine maintenance is big in my book. Most people do not pay attention as long as their car starts when they get in it. I usually get 180k-250k miles on my cars before I get rid of them and they still run and look good.
This is not a sport car so I didn't expect high performance from it. It has no problem keeping up with traffic and I am happy. I think it is well built and good looking for what it is.Jan 03, 2011

The only thing wrong with the expo is that it only gets 11 miles to the gallon. But you pay for what get, its a great car. I've taken it off roading in a blizzard, never even came close to getting stuck.Nov 11, 2009

Overall a great performing, reliable, and comfortable SUV. Performance-wise it beat many sports cars off the line with no modifications. It is very solid, good-handling vehicle at any speed. Very roomy and and comfortable with immense storage room in the back.Oct 05, 2009

I love my Expedition - it carries my family and makes a U-turn on a dime. The bad fall is I just wish it would get better gas mileage driving in the city - Highway driving is pretty good - I can make it really work. Come on car makers - the engine is there for good gas mileage.Sep 09, 2008

Great all around SUV, acceleration is OK, it handles very well on and off road. Drove it successfully in the dessert and in snow storms, interior is spacious and comfortable. Gas mileage sucks but who cares!!! Exterior looks great, engine is relatively powerfull and basically it delivers. I recommend this car Jul 23, 2008

I have a 2005 expedition xlt sport I have not had 1 problem with it since I purchased it in 05. I did add a k&n air cold air system and hypertech power programer to it. I pull a 6,000 pd camper. Those 2 items increased my hp to 335. On turnpike with cruise set @ 70 mph I am now getting 19.5 to 20 mpg. City still around 14.5 mpg. Not to bad for a 3 ton vehicle. I just ordered a 2008 EL Limited.Jan 06, 2008
