My car ran out of gas put gas in now it won't start
the lights work but it won't fire

If your car has a fuel injector you may have dried out the pump and line. Turn your keys to the on position for a few seconds (but don't start the vehicle). Then turn your car off. Do this three times giving the fuel pump and line a chance to refill and build pressure. Then it should start right up. Hope this helps.

listen for the pump to run and shut off too , the fuel is the coolant and lube for the pump
