My mechanic used a scanner on my car and
it said fuel pump DVR mod disabled

Fuel pump driver. May be fuse, relay, fuel pump, inertia fuel shutoff switch, pcm or pats. Has he checked for fuel pressure? power to the pump? is the theft light on? There are several things that are easy to eliminate pretty quickly with basic tools and open eyes. A code doesn't tell you what's wrong all the time, it tells you where to look for the problem.
