When you drive a vehicle that is over heating to the point of losing power and stalling you "cook" the head gaskets resulting a labor intensive costly repair... stop as soon as possible, pull over safely and shut off the vehicle. The 2001 Marquis has the 4.6 v8 Sohc have a leak-down test or compression test performed to determine if both cylinder head gaskets are ruined.
