Im having transmission problems on my 05
explorer.i had a mechanic scan it and he
said it came up with 2 electrical codes for
the tranny.the od light is blinking and it says
"check transmission." Now could it be the
solenoid pack needs to be changed or do i
need another tranny?

It could be but what are the code numbers? and if this transmission has lots of miles, IT can just DONE!, is it slipping, not shifting, missing a gear?
Portcity420 answered 8 years ago
Its shifting hard into third and yes it has212,00 miles on it.a transmission shop(aamco) checked it and they told me all the "soft"parts of the tranny needed to be changed.what transmissions would be interchangeable with mine?oh yeah aamco told me to put another tranny in and torque convertor would be $2100 .

Check out the cost of a remanufactured transmission, Try the local auto parts store MUCH, better than Aamco.. then call shops and ask how much to remove it and replace it. Also salvage yards can be Ok.. if the transmission is in the vehicle and you can check for a LOW mileage unit. Regards
Find yourself a mom and pop tranny shop which has been in business for a long time. I was fortunate to grow up with a friend who went into his dads tranny business, instead of college, over forty years ago. He has performed all my tranny work since the mid 70's. In his works; "I've never had to change out an entire transmission in a car of midsize truck." "Absent a severe accident, it's almost impossible to completely destroy a transmission to the point the entire unit has to be replaced."
