Uh...what button? The release is a lever on the floor! But if I guess your meaning, it's because developing weakness in the door "spring" tab is common. Remedy is to carefully bend the tab with strong pliers, wherein you'll bend the entire hanging structure, but that's ok. Get it to work, even if crooked, then force the door to sit pretty by bending everything when you're done. Crude, but that's cost-cutting at play here. Try to align so that there's no paint contact when closed and at least about an inch gap when open for fuel attendants' winter gloves.
