Cpo

Certified Pre-Owned, a.k.a. you get a "warranty" on the car, a.k.a. "We're going to charge you about $2000 or so extra for a warranty we have no intentions of honoring should something happen." I don't put much stock into the certified programs, but that's what it means.
CPO sponsored by brand specific dealerships (not dealers) can be a great deal. Sure these cars cost a little more, but the CPO is sponsored through that particular manufacturer and they will make covered repairs at little to no cost to the owner. For example our 2014 Lincoln MKZ was a CPO vehicle at a Lincoln dealership. Our CPO warranty was actually better and longer than the warranty on the vehicle when it was new. The only down side is that there is a $100 deductible. I would avoid any cars at a strictly used car dealer that are listed as CPO because it is not the same thing. CPO cars at new car dealerships are usually the cream of the crop because not every car can qualify as a CPO.
