Car pricing

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

It seems like automobile dealerships are mimicking airlines with hidden fees.
It’s difficult to navigate the CarGurus website information efficiently when you
have to determine how much the hidden dealer “prep” fees are on preowned
vehicles. They’re approaching $1,000, which turns a great deal into a fair deal,
or a fair deal into a poor deal. It’s unfair to the dealership that doesn’t charge
them ( a rarity) and to your customers that sometimes get surprised at the end
of the negotiations.

Just because they list bogus fees like dealer prep does not mean you have to pay them. Those fees are for fools and many dealers will take them off if you object.
