2001 Pt Cruiser

Question type: General
So I was driving my car a few months ago and it just kept
over heating and cutting off. My dad made me start it over
and over to drive it closer to home then it completely just
shut off. A few months later I've tried starting it. It sound
like it wants to turn over but it just won't catch. Does that
mean my engine is gone completely?

Overheating them cooks the head gasket and maybe more! every time. Depending on how many miles on it, repair or change the engine... many times an engine change is more cost effective than a cylinder head change the head could be cracked too.

I agree with Centric bad advice your dad gave you to keep on starting and driving when it has been overheating.

Well can not really give you either good or bad news about vehicle since can not be there to check it out for myself but contently running vehicle until it overheats is not sounding to good for you.
Yeah it's probably a wrap on it, it sound like it wants to start but it won't catch on to anything.
