I have a 97 Mercyry grand marquis that has some fluid that gets in the spark plug Reservoir it doesn't overheat nor has it ever overheated but there is a smell of fuel when the car is turned off I changed the spark plugs and the spark plug wires and it seems to be okay but I know the manifold cover seal is cracked and it needs to be replaced but why does it smell like fuel after driving it and then turning it off? what can I do about the situation in order to have it fixed other than taking it to a repair shop or a mechanic and paying over $1,000 for a cracked manifold cover?

You can get the manifold from any auto parts store for a few hundred bucks and have anyone that's handy with a wrench do it for you. The cracked manifold is leaking coolant onto the engine and is settling into the spark plug wells. When the plug wells are filled with coolant or water it causes the engine to misfire and leaves you with a lot of unburned fuel in the exhaust.
