Crank no start

Asked by Yuriy Sep 18, 2018 at 09:33 PM about the 2000 Ford F-150 XL Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced fuel filter. Replaced fuel pump.
Took awhile to figure out if pump runs. It run for 2 seconds
on ignition. Pull coil cable out and checked for spark
using new plug. Shrewder valve shows pressure. Don’t
have gauge to measure. Do have check engine light on for
evapor emissions. The small hose got hole at fill tube.
It 5.4 V-8. It use to roughly idle at stop lights ones a week.
Then it got more often, ones I lost throttle, next day will
not start. Any idea what happened.

Found problem. My fuel tank has water. Fords will not run on water. Replacing fuel tank. Do to hole on top at cross member where’s cab meets truck bed. Verified with clean fuel. Filled bucket with clean fuel. Installed fuel pump, left return line disconnected to prevent bad fuel mix. Truck started. And ran mormal.
